Novi Sad, February 3 - In the fourth round of the Group B of the Volleyball EuroLeague for men, the host team of Vojvodina defeated the team from Czech Republic Usti 3-1 (25:19, 27:25, 20:25, 25:16).
The Yugoslav champion needed only 90 minutes to reach the second victory in this competition and atone for the two previous defeats from Nafta in Bratislava and Belogorje in Novi Sad.
With this victory over the Czech champion, the team from Novi Sad created the theoretic chances to compete in the final round of this notable competition - Final Four.
The first set was characterized by equal struggle until 15-15. Then the captain of the team and vet Zarko Petrovic came in and the team from Novi Sad scored three points in a row and won the first set. The similar thing happened in the second set, but it was more difficult to win than the first one.
The third set brought the big struggle. The Czech players took the lead and had the advantage in result (6-11 and 12-16) which they managed to maintain till the end of the set.
The Czechs started very well at the beginning of the fourth set. However, the silver boys from Japan Geric, Boskan and Petkovic with the help of Zarko Petrovic, Mladenovic and Markovic started playing as they know and as they can, taking the lead of 10-6 and then 20-15 to win the set 25-16.
Next Wednesday, in the fifth round of the Volleyball EuroLeague, the team from Novi Sad will be playing in Trevis against the Italian team of Sisli.
