Sensational discoveries in Medijana

King Constantine

Nis, July 9 - Team of archeologists from Belgrade and Nis, that is working at the locality of Medijana, these days, found several objects and other discoveries at that archeological find of the classical period for which it is claimed that they are sensational and that they have never been seen in the world, till now.

Fence from bronze was found with several preserved barns, which, according to leader of the archeologists' investigation Miloje Vasic, director of the Archeological Institute in Belgrade, probably was standing in pagan's temple and it was used for separation of believers from the clergy. Its origin is located at the first two decades of the fourth century, at the time when king Constantine, born in this city, definitely accepted the Christianity.

Working at the future route of road-pedestrian path of Medijana, archeologists found some more objects from the end of pagan period and from the beginning of Christianity, from which some have never been seen in the world, till now.

It is obvious, says archeologist Vasic that it is about objects, which were hidden at the time of restless events when paganism was replaced with Christianity and when pagans were hiding their valuable and divines. Medijana had, added Vasic, several phases of life, which the latest findings confirm.

It is interesting that exactly, a century ago, in 1900, at the locality of Medijana a statue of king Constantine was found, and now, at the end of the century, from the period of life of that great imperator, whose seat was city Nis, significant discovery appeared.
